Formerly known as Birtwistle’s, our Heywood garage joined the Volksmaster family in September 2021 and underwent a complete renovation shortly after to bring it in line with our modern, customer-focused standards.

- From the day the opened the garage I’ve always took my vehicles to them and my kids and had good fair experiences especially when the father (owner) was running things that is it to say the son doesn’t but it appears that the chief mechanic doesI brought in my Range Rover for a diagnostic at a cost of 100. To be told it needed a new timing chain at a cost of 2100.00 including the diagnostic at 100. I agreed as I had a buyer for it, I was promised the vehicle back on Friday, unfortunately the work (timing chain was not completed until Monday ) on Monday I went in to pay to be told it has a SECONDARY FAULT ? When I asked why this was not picked up on the initial 100. Diagnostic check I was just told “this is a secondary fault “, it was now carbon in the throttle body what I suspected was the original fault, the total invoice came in to over 2000.00, I also asked WHY DO RANGE Rover THE Main DEALERS ONLY CHARGE 1500.00 for a new timing chain replacement? I clearly explained that I wanted a physical inspection to ensure everything was in order. Instead, all they did was plug in a diagnostic scanner and check the engine bay — something I had already done myself and mentioned to them beforehand. There was no real inspection of the cam belt as requested, yet I was still charged £60 for essentially repeating what I already knew. It felt like a waste of time and money. Our thorough diagnostic process using specialist equipment and experience differs significantly from a basic code reader. For £60, we perform a diagnostic scan and a focused inspection, not a component strip-down. Our findings didn't indicate a need for further, more expensive investigations. We prioritise honest assessments and avoid unnecessary charges to our customers.
