Volkswagen Servicing in Oldham, Bury Manchester
Volkswagen is one of the oldest and most popular car manufacturers on the planet, having withstood the test of time to create a heritage spanning some 80 years. VW cars are heavily regarded to be some of the most reliable and friendly cars money can buy, and the brand itself is famed for having a second-to-none customer experience and loyalty. People who buy a VW once rarely go back to other brands afterwards.
With regular maintenance, it’s not uncommon to extract some serious mileage out of Volkswagen cars. Take care of the cars and they’re practically bulletproof. Those of you familiar with VW’s iconic TDI engines know what we’re talking about. You can still see a ton of them on the road today, running as well as they did when they were brand-new. Modern VW cars build upon that history and heritage, continuing the same tradition and image VW is known for.
As far as model lineups go, VW is probably one of the most diverse car manufacturers in the automotive industry. From city cars and luxury limos to full-size SUVs and even a pickup, VW has a model to suit everyone’s needs. Their most popular models are, by far and away, the Polo and the Golf. The Golf needs no introduction at this point, as you’re bound to see at least a dozen of them should you look outside your window right now.
The Polo slots just below the Golf and it’s the small hatchback of the family range. It’s perfect for small families and people who want a practical city car. If you want something even more compact you can get the Up!, which is the smallest car VW currently makes. It’s the cheapest, most economical form of transport, with plenty of charisma and massive visual appeal should you opt for the Up! GTI version.
The Passat is VW’s full-size saloon car, but they recently axed the old Phaeton which used to sit above the Passat in favour of the brand-new Arteon. SUVs come in all shapes and sizes, starting with the smallest T-Cross and T-Roc. Built on the same underpinnings as their hatchback siblings, the T-Cross and the T-Roc provide a more practical motoring experience with a higher seating position and better ground clearance.
The Tiguan is a compact crossover that slots just below the Touareg, VW’s full-size SUV with real off-roading credentials. Need more space but don’t want an SUV? The Touaran and the Sharan are the perfect people carriers, with more room than you’re ever going to need.
Most of the models we just mentioned are built using VW’s MQB modular platform, so they share a lot of components between them. This helps keep production costs down, but it also means cheaper and more durable parts for you, the consumer. Engines vary vastly between models but you can find most of them scattered across the range, with the bigger, heavier models getting the more powerful variants of each. Because of this, a lot of parts are interchangeable, making servicing easy and affordable.
Apart from a regular service, you won’t find a lot of common issues within VW’s lineup. Diesels struggle with diesel particulate filters (DPF) as they get older, but that’s the case with any diesel. Cars equipped with automatic gearboxes need regular servicing to keep them healthy and smooth, especially modern DSG variants, but there’s not much else to say.
Stay on top of maintenance and you’ll enjoy years of hassle-free motoring. Servicing should be performed by experienced technicians, especially when it comes to fundamental jobs such as changing the cambelt and the waterpump. At Volkmaster, we’re able to deal with any type of service on any type of VW model, so if you’ve got an issue with your car, give us a call or visit us in Oldham (0161 624 5060), Bury (0161 761 3030), Heywood (01706 622633) or at the Van Centre (0161 628 5270) or complete the booking form and we’ll get you back on the road in no time.

Digital Online Servicing
The Digital Service Schedule is the new way of recording and protecting your Audi/Volkswagen service history. All vehicles built from November 2012 onwards will now have their entire service history stored electronically in a secure online database.
Volksmaster will provide you with a print-out of the service record each time you visit.
The Digital Service Schedule has many advantages over the traditional paper service record including:
- Access to the full service history for the life of the vehicle from any Volksmaster Centre
- A security code which can be verified by any Audi Centre to provide added reassurance when buying or selling a vehicle
- Protection against forgery or the records being lost
- Proof of service work to protect your warranty
Maintaining a full and up-to-date service history which is trustworthy and accurate will help preserve the resale price of your vehicle.
