Volkswagen Servicing in Oldham, Bury, Heywood Manchester

Volkswagen is one of the oldest and most popular car manufacturers on the planet, having withstood the test of time to create a heritage spanning some 80 years. VW cars are heavily regarded to be some of the most reliable and friendly cars money can buy, and the brand itself is famed for having a second-to-none customer experience and loyalty. People who buy a VW once rarely go back to other brands afterwards.

Building on a Legacy of Reliability

With regular maintenance, it’s not uncommon to extract some serious mileage out of Volkswagen cars. Take care of the cars and they’re practically bulletproof. Those of you familiar with VW’s iconic TDI engines know what we’re talking about; these diesel powerhouses are legendary for their longevity. You can still see a ton of them on the road today, running as well as they did when they were brand-new. Modern VW cars build upon that history and heritage, continuing the same tradition and image VW is known for.

A Diverse Range for Every Driver

As far as model lineups go, VW is probably one of the most diverse car manufacturers in the automotive industry. From city cars and luxury limos to full-size SUVs and even a pickup, VW has a model to suit everyone’s needs. Their most popular models are, by far and away, the Polo and the Golf. The Golf needs no introduction at this point, as you’re bound to see at least a dozen of them—including the performance-oriented Golf GTI and the all-wheel-drive Golf R—should you look outside your window right now.

From Classic Hatchbacks to Practical SUVs

While the nimble Lupo and the ultra-compact Up! are now no longer in production, they remain incredibly popular on the used market as economical city cars. The Polo now serves as the entry-point to the new car range, sitting just below the Golf. For those requiring more presence on the road, the Passat remains VW’s definitive full-size saloon and estate car. Recently, VW transitioned their flagship offering from the Phaeton to the brand-new, sleek Arteon, which offers a premium executive experience.

The SUV lineup has expanded rapidly, coming in all shapes and sizes:

  • T-Cross & T-Roc: Compact crossovers providing a higher seating position and better ground clearance.
  • Tiguan: A versatile compact crossover that strikes the perfect balance for families.
  • Touareg: VW’s flagship full-size SUV with real off-roading credentials.
  • ID. Range: Leading the charge into the future with the all-electric ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5.

Need more space but don’t want an SUV? The Touran and the Sharan are the perfect people carriers (MPVs). For those in trade, the Caddy and Transporter vans, or the Amarok pickup, are the backbone of the commercial range.

Understanding the Technology: The MQB Platform

Most of the models we just mentioned are built using VW’s MQB modular platform, so they share a lot of components between them. This helps keep production costs down, but it also means cheaper and more durable parts for you, the consumer. Engines vary vastly—from the frugal 1.0 TSI to the powerful 2.0 TDI—but you can find most of them scattered across the range. Because of this shared architecture, a lot of parts are interchangeable, making servicing easy and affordable.

Professional Maintenance for Your Volkswagen

Apart from a regular service, diesels can occasionally struggle with diesel particulate filters (DPF) as they get older, but that’s the case with any modern diesel. Cars equipped with automatic gearboxes need regular oil changes to keep them healthy and smooth, especially modern DSG variants.

Stay on top of maintenance and you’ll enjoy years of hassle-free motoring. Servicing should be performed by experienced technicians, especially when it comes to fundamental jobs such as changing the cambelt and the water pump. At Volksmaster, we’re able to deal with any type of service on any type of VW model, from a nippy Lupo to a rugged Amarok.

Digital Online Servicing

The Digital Service Schedule is the new way of recording and protecting your Audi/Volkswagen service history. All vehicles built from November 2012 onwards will now have their entire service history stored electronically in a secure online database.

Volksmaster will provide you with a print-out of the service record each time you visit.

The Digital Service Schedule has many advantages over the traditional paper service record including:

  • Access to the full service history for the life of the vehicle from any Volksmaster Centre
  • A security code which can be verified by any Audi Centre to provide added reassurance when buying or selling a vehicle
  • Protection against forgery or the records being lost
  • Proof of service work to protect your warranty

Maintaining a full and up-to-date service history which is trustworthy and accurate will help preserve the resale price of your vehicle.
