For 30 years, Volksmaster has been helping motorists across Greater Manchester keep their vehicles safe, reliable and on the road. As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary, we believe this milestone should be about more than looking back at what we have achieved as a family business. It is also an opportunity to look forward and ask ourselves a simple question:

How can Volksmaster give something back to the communities that have supported us for the past 30 years?

The answer is the beginning of something new: the Volksmaster Community Commitment Programme.

It is a baby step today, but we believe it could become a meaningful long-term commitment to the people, organisations and communities around us.

Mike McDonald, Owner of Volksmaster Group, explains:
“I have always believed that if you have the opportunity to help someone, you should try to do something. It doesn’t have to be a big thing. Sometimes giving a young person the right guidance, the right opportunity or simply someone who believes in them can make a real difference to their future. That’s something I would like Volksmaster to contribute to.”

Volksmaster has always been a business built around trust. From our roots as a family-run garage to serving customers across Oldham, Bury, Heywood and Manchester, our business has grown because of the relationships we have built with our customers and local communities.

For our 30th Anniversary, we wanted to extend that relationship beyond vehicle repair and servicing. Our anniversary celebrations have already given back to motorists through customer appreciation offers and rebates. The next step is different. Rather than simply giving back through discounts, we want to explore how we can contribute to the wider community in a more meaningful and sustainable way.

This is the thinking behind the Volksmaster Community Commitment.

Starting Small, Thinking Long-Term

We don’t believe there is a perfect CSR programme from day one. As a family business, we understand that our resources are not unlimited. We also believe that a meaningful community programme needs to be realistic, sustainable and capable of growing over time.

That is why we are deliberately starting small. During the 2026–27 financial year, Volksmaster will use this first stage to listen, learn and understand more about the communities around our branches in Greater Manchester.

We want to meet local organisations, understand the challenges they face and learn where our support can genuinely make a difference. Most importantly, we want to build relationships rather than simply write cheques.

Our ambition is to develop two to three long-term community partnerships as a starting point, rather than trying to support every cause at once.

Because we believe that doing a few things properly and sustainably is more meaningful than trying to do everything.

The Volksmaster Community Commitment Programme is our first step towards creating a long-term community initiative.

Our Vision: To drive positive change by connecting businesses, people and local communities across Greater Manchester.

Our Mission: To give back to the communities that have supported Volksmaster for 30 years through meaningful partnerships, practical support, volunteering and sustainable community investment.

We want to build a community commitment that grows alongside Volksmaster—one that supports meaningful local causes, creates opportunities for people and encourages others to contribute in their own way.

Driving Our Community Forward

The Volksmaster Community Commitment is only a beginning. For a family business that has spent 30 years helping people keep moving, we believe the next chapter should be about helping our communities move forward too. From Oldham and Heywood to Bury, Rochdale and Manchester, we want to continue listening, learning and finding meaningful ways to contribute.

We may be taking a baby step today. But we believe that every meaningful journey starts with one.
